Exploring Immortality; Life Extension
| This is a film by the Immortality Institute that explores various aspects of extreme life extension including cryonics (cryogenics), caloric restriction, transhumanism, and other scientific pursuits of extreme life extension.
I am not sure I would want to live forever but it is interesting to see those who are most seriously dreaming this up. View criticisms of Aubrey De Grey's theories here. He is an advisor at the Immortality Institute. I am not telling you my opinion because I still do not understand all of this. Just being honest. Besides, I got a four pack of Play-Doh yesterday and I have some serious sculpting to do. Much more important:)

Cryonics. Oy.
It freaks me out, to a certain extent to even conceptualize the possiblility of immortality.
If I understand correctly (which I'm not saying I do!, the problem that most scientists in the cryogenic field are facing, is the ability to sustainably retain oxygenation in the blood. They can begin to hold tissue in a state of suspended animation, but reviving tissue, without it starting to revert to necro-erosion seems to be the issue. Gross.
Ah, but if one day we can just all replace all of our parts with common household items. That way we can all be made purely of old wads of gum and bits of tin foil.
People who are researching this are utterly fascinating, some people's intelligence just blow me away.
p.s. Yay Play Dough!

Instead of worrying about prolonging my life I think I'll just live it. Play Dough is a good place to start.
Be safe...

Good for you Lora:) I can not say that I am not interested in their theories, but I too prefer to just BE.
p.s. Flutter needs PLay-Doh too!

I can't believe it: I though the didn't sell Play-Doh anymore and was a product celebrates only in the museums. Shame on me. :o)

Believe it Yoav, they sell it in the toy section at most stores. It's pretty cheap too. Get some. I love the way it feels and smells:) Sometimes, I get the urge to eat it:) I try to sculpt with it when I am not that hungry.
